Routine veterinary exams are an opportunity to address changes in your dog or cat’s health.
Veterinary exams are an important part of your pet’s life. Regular wellness exams are the key to keeping your pet healthy. We recommend all pets undergo an annual “nose to tail” exam, though more frequent exams are encouraged. These visits should never be avoided as they help us monitor your pet’s health as they grow. Information we collect during their check ups prepare us for conditions they may be susceptible to in their older age, or detect illnesses at an early stage. This is also a great opportunity for pet owners to ask questions and share concerns. To schedule your pet’s veterinary exam call us at 403-984-4143.
Our wellness exams benefit your peace of mind as much as it caters to your pet’s physical and emotional health. Without annual exams invisible conditions may develop into long term or fatal issues. Vet exams keep you informed of your pet’s well-being and allows us to follow up with other tests if we see fit. We use the results from the physical examination to determine if your pet needs X-rays, blood work, and/or an ultrasound. These additional examinations tell us what’s wrong with your pet and lets us quickly decide the best course of treatment. When you keep your pet’s appointments regular, you’re giving them the best possible care.
Externally, we check their eyes, ears, weight, and skin to spot physical changes or abnormalities. To see how they’re doing internally we take a small blood sample. Wellness laboratory testing is used to assist the veterinarian in detecting health problems at an early stage. Laboratory results provide valuable information to evaluate the condition of your pet’s vital organs such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas and heart. These tests can provide a baseline for future comparison to detect changes in your pet’s health.
