How will I know if my pet has worms?

If they’re experiencing abdominal pain, blood in their stool or weight loss, it’s possible your pet has a worm infestation and should be immediately checked by our doctors. Other signs include lack of appetite and vomiting.

How can my pet contract worms?

Pets encounter worms from swallowing them or making physical contact. If your pet is interacting with an infected animal or insect, worm eggs could get onto your pet’s skin or in your pet’s mouth. Your pet could also step in feces that has worms, which can latch onto them and turn into an infestation. That is why every pet owner should clean up after their pet. Deworming is highly recommended for “inside pets” as well. They could contract worms if they encounter an infected cockroach or rodent that enters the home.

What kind of worms can exist in my pet’s body?

Worms can exist in different parts of your pet’s body, which explains the names for them such as lungworms, stomach worms, bladder worms and heartworms.
