How often should my pet get blood work done?

We test your pet’s blood at every veterinary exam. A lot can happen in a year and these tests allow us to look for changes in your pet’s health as they age. It’s important not to neglect your pet’s annual or semi-annual exams. Blood work is a useful diagnostic method that catches diseases early and let’s us know the best way to treat your pet.

What happens after you take my pet’s blood?

A wide variety of laboratory tests are available for your dog and cat. Complete blood counts and blood chemistry are just a couple of the many tests performed by our off-site veterinary laboratory. Results are received in a timely manner for many of these tests. We also have an in-house laboratory where we can run more urgent diagnostic tests to find proper treatment sooner. These tests search for blood clot disorders, anemia, parasites and reveal diseases through your pet’s blood count level.

What can you learn from my pet’s blood work?

Blood tests can reveal almost everything about your pet except what they’re thinking. We can detect if they’re pregnant, have allergies or diabetes, which impacts their nutritional diet. Blood work can also expose organ damage or diseases in their bladder, heart, kidney and liver.
